‘Game of Thrones’ season 3: Take a look inside Emilia Clarke scene
Is there any other show on TV that gives its fans as much of a look behind the curtain as “Game of Thrones”? It’s a very lovely thing to do, and it is of course made all of the lovelier by the fact that the show does not really even make you wait until the DVD has come out in order to give you a look at how certain things are made.
For the latest example of this very thing, the video below features a deep dive into what was one of the more impressive scenes during the premiere episode, as we saw Danaerys (Emilia Clarke) ponder over the possibility of owning an army of slaves in the Unsullied. As Clarke herself says, this was an immense moral quandry for her character. From one standpoint, the last thing that she wants to do is come across as being the one thing (in a slave owner) that she fought against for so long. However, it is something that she has come to accept for the time being, as sometimes you have to do some pretty terrible things as a sacrifice for the greater good later on in life. Her goal is simple in to retake her birthright, and these people are means to an end.
The video also takes a look into how the Unsullied were designed from the costume perspective, along with how difficult it was to plan out everything from the dialect to making the city of Astapor look rather unwelcoming due to its status as a slave-trading city.
