‘American Idol’ top 7 preview: Is this Lazaro Arbos’ week to go?
If there is any one week for “American Idol” fans to be excited about, it’s this one. For the first time all season long, we’re being promised a group of songs that will not include any ballads whatsoever, which means opportunities to hear just how versatile some of these people really are. Plus, it’s rock music! There are so many choices in here, but you know for whatever reason that someone will still find a way to perform Queen’s “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” and a few other songs that have been done to death on this show.
Going into this week, though, what is particularly interesting is that there is really no questioning at all who will probably end up going home. Lazaro Arbos seems to be completely on an island vocally, and he is going to need some sort of significant comeback to win over some of the fans that he lost by being on stage and actually forgetting his lyrics for the umpteenth time this competition.
But is it really guaranteed that he will be going home? Not so much, as you should remember the following things:
1. Singers in the bottom two typically get a rally of votes the next week.
2. Amber Holcomb and Burnell Taylor have each been in jeopardy before.
3. Angie Miller has had a couple of down weeks, and has not returned to her Hollywood Week level yet.
More than anything else, we just hope that this week is exciting, and that some of our performers share some more attitude (as in personality, not in the bad way) even when they are not singing.
Who do you think could be in danger this week along with Lazaro, and do you think rock week may favor any one singer in particular? If you want to see where we’ve ranked some of the singers at present, you can do so just by heading on over to the link here.
