‘Once Upon a Time’ season 2 spoilers: Boss refutes new recasting rumors
As it turns out, no one ever seems to give up on the idea that “Once Upon a Time” could potentially recast some of its characters. First, there was gossip surrounding the idea of Sebastian Stan’s Mad Hatter being cast again for the upcoming pilot presentation for “Once: Wonderland,” but this ended up not being the cast thanks to a massive fan outcry.
Now, the sort of rumors are floating around when it comes to another recurring character: Jamie Chung’s Mulan. What gives? Basically, the gossip seems to stem from set photos that featured someone other than Chung in the traditional armor, and this created speculation that the series was looking to put a new face to the role a little later on this season. The reason why is presumably simple: like with Stan, Chung is a very busy woman, and is currently booked on an NBC pilot entitled “Believe.”
So is any of this true? Not so much. In a new post on Twitter, executive producer Adam Horowitz refuted most of these claims, and said that no one on the show is being recast. Not only that, but the show occasionally does use stand-ins or stunt doubles, just as the vast majority of other action / adventure shows do. It in no way means that Chung is going anywhere. While she is unlikely to make many more appearances if her new show gets picked up to series, there is seemingly no reason why she would be unable to strap on the Mulan armor one more time now.
Do you think “Once Upon a Time” is facing a good or bad problem with so many of their recurring players being in demand elsewhere? (After all, Meghan Ory is also attached to a pilot.)
