‘Game of Thrones’ season 3: Wildings (and music) to get you excited for the premiere
Just when you thought that winter was over, it’s coming back again Sunday night courtesy of the launch of “Game of Thrones” season 3. There is going to be plenty of great moments to occur just in the premiere episode alone, as we see Jon Snow push forward to meet Mance Rayder, the beginnings of Margaery Tyrell’s time with King Joffrey, and where Tyrion Lannister goes from here.
But before we get deeper into that, why not start things off here with a little music? The show’s official YouTube channel uploaded a video on Friday that features some pretty fantastic street performances of the “Game of Thrones” theme song, which shows ultimately just how far this series has come in pop-culture savvy ever since its premiere. Suffice it to say here that the numbers for the show’s first episode back are going to be huge. (Heck, we have a feeling they’d be “Walking Dead” numbers if everyone who watches it actually bought HBO … and maybe if there wasn’t so much Easter Sunday competition.)
Meanwhile, the next video gives us a much deeper look inside the Wildings, a group of characters who are going to be very important for Jon Snow moving forward. George R.R. Martin, Rose Leslie, and many more share some of their thoughts on who these people are, the various types of Wildings that exist, and some of their cultural traditions. For those who have not read the A Song of Ice and Fire series, this is a marvelous crash course into a world that we have only scratched the surface of on TV.
