‘Downton Abbey’ season 4 spoilers: Joanne Froggatt talks potential ‘surprises’
If there are two things that “Downton Abbey” is known for at the moment, it is having wonderful costumes, and for managing to find a way to continually surprise the audience left and right. We had that on a number of occasions throughout season 3, whether it be the death of Lady Sybil, Anna and Bates getting to be a couple again, or of course the shocking car accident during the Christmas special that ended up taking the life of Matthew Crawley.
So can we expect there to be more of the same moving forward into season 4? It certainly seems like it, based on what Joanne Froggatt is saying now. Speaking as a part of a recent interview with BANG Showbiz, the Emmy-nominated actress had the following to say about just how much she is enjoying the process thus far:
“We’ve just started filming the fourth season. We’ve been filming for about a month so we’ve got a long way to go.
“I’m really excited about it. I think this year, the scripts are really, really fantastic. I think it’s upped its game again. There’s certainly quite a few surprises this year. Hopefully people will love it!”
So what could we be seeing? When it comes to Anna and Bates alone, there is potential for the two of them to settle down and look to the future. Meanwhile, we have Mary attempting to move forward without Matthew in her life, and also Robert trying yet again to move forward with the changing times in Edwardian England.
