‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 8 finale spoilers: Couples compete

Who knew that the “How I Met Your Mother” finale this season was also going to get competitive? While we cannot necessarily tell you that the actual wedding between Barney and Robin will take place during this installment (though we really wish we could), we can at least say that Neil Patrick Harris and Cobie Smulders’ characters will be teaming up in a very different (but also interesting) way.

According to a new casting notice (via SpoilerTV), the show is looking for a very jerky couple to make an appearance during the episode “Something New” (which is the second half of the finale). They will act out while Barney and Robin are at a fancy dinner, and this will lead to a plot by our leads to try and take these two down.

The last we heard on the state of the Barney and Robin nuptials, it appeared as though the show may stop off this season just before we make it to this pivotal date, and then season 9 will follow some sort of unique structure that almost feels like a pilot to the new show. While we’re somewhat nervous about how the writers plan to fill up 24 more episodes of content before finally getting to meet the Mother, they have also done a pretty good job of not letting us down so far. Take, for example, Barney and Robin engaging in couples warfare: sounds hilarious, no?
