‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 8, episode 20: Ted deals with two Barneys

On Monday night’s “How I Met Your Mother” season 8 episode, we will hopefully get an answer to a very important question: are we really going to see one Ted Mosby miss out on a legendary version of “Robots vs. Wrestlers”? This is something that was a great moment for the character in the past, but for whatever reason at the moment, he is hesitant to repeat it.

Why? Maybe he still thinks that he is too cool for something so silly in between his architecture job and some of the other high-and-mighty things that he does, but Barney insists to him in the clip below that he is going to sorely regret it if he does not decide to sign up. Not only that, but he also recruits a little bit of help when it comes to convincing: future Barney! We don’t know how he shows up in this context, but Ted has to deal with the incredibly difficult challenge of two Barneys convincing him to do one thing that he would have probably folded and done even with just one pressing him.

As for what happens next, it looks as though Barney and future Barney are going to have some additional help … from future Ted. The results of this are completely and utterly silly, but it still makes for a very entertaining scene. Will Robots vs. Wrestlers actually play a key role in Ted’s life moving forward? That is what we wonder now, since this episode could otherwise be seen as filler on the way to the Robin / Barney wedding.
