‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 4 spoilers: Claire Holt on Paul Wesley, ‘The Originals’
Let’s start this “Vampire Diaries” article with the big news that is finally getting confirmed: Claire Holt will be joining “The Originals.” This has long assumed to be a foregone conclusion, but for whatever reason it has taken a little bit longer for the producers to put this deal together than it did for either Daniel Gillies (Elijah), Phoebe Tonkin (Hayley), or Joseph Morgan (Klaus). So long as the backdoor pilot gets picked up to series, you will have an opportunity to check out plenty more of Rebekah alongside two of her brothers this fall.
In going back to “The Vampire Diaries” itself, though, Rebekah still has a story to tell here. for one, her continued chase to find the cure is going to lead to a confrontation between her and Katherine, and this is something that Holt claims to Zap2It is going to create a pretty ugly battle between characters:
“They’re so similar in a way, but so different in a way. I think Rebekah likes having the power. She likes controlling situations. I think she’s liked to play that sort of vixen role in Mystic Falls, and Katherine has been the ultimate vixen, so I don’t think they’re going to be the best of friends, that’s for sure.”
Meanwhile, Holt also opens up on the possibility of a future romantic arc for her character and Stefan, who first got together this season for a time. It was a surprising pairing given that Stefan’s feelings for Elena have been so strong, but it was quickly popular with fans; but unfortunately, it doesn’t sound like we are going to be seeing much more of it:
“I would love for it to [continue] because I absolutely adore Paul Wesley, he’s one of my favorite people on the planet. People don’t know this about him but he’s so funny. Probably one of the funniest people I’ve ever met in my life … I think we had some really great chemistry, it harkens back to the 1920s episode, but like, really? I don’t think anybody really wants to be with Rebekah forever unless she changes her ways.”
