‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ review: Adrienne Maloof’s walls come down

Sometimes, it is beyond entertaining watching a meltdown or a fight take place on a reality show, but by the same token, we’re not sure that there is anything more uncomfortable than bearing witness to someone’s personal life completely crumbling. We saw this happen back in season 2 of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” courtesy of Taylor Armstrong, and while it is nowhere near as tragic with Adrienne Maloof, it still definitely has that awkward feeling to it.

First of all, it was interesting to see on the show this week how they actually made much of the discussion about Maloof’s split from Dr. Paul Nassif reactive rather than coming straight from own mouth. The couple tried to make the handling of their personal affairs as private as possible (which cannot be easy considering that you are on a TV show), and that is probably why Adrienne has made the move to quit the show and will not be a part of the upcoming fourth season.

Of course, just seeing the likes of Lisa Vanderpump and Taylor talking about the divorce was not enough this week: they also had to gossip and try to play the blame game. First, there was a great deal of bashing in general about how Adrienne allegedly sold stories about some of the other women to a tabloid (which we still don’t think she would need to do, given that she is filthy stinkin’ rich), and to follow that up we also saw a great deal of time devoted to whether or not Brandi Glanville ended up making things worse for them.

The episode ended with what was a little bit more of a standard story by show standards: a fight between Faye Resnick and Brandi over whether or not Yolanda Foster was being led a down a dark path. Isn’t Yolanda more than old enough to make her own decisions? We don’t know. All we can say is that this season has been sorely lacking at times in the fun department, and it’s not entertaining to see someone’s life fall apart. It’s sad, and we like to view TV as an escape.
