‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 8, episode 19 preview: Barney and Robin talk…
For about the first ten or so seconds of the sneak peek below from Monday night’s “How I Met Your Mother” season 8 episode, we almost thought that Barney and Robin were going to actually have a serious conversation about something that needed to be addressed: what they are going to do about children moving forward, since Robin is infertile and can’t have any. However, we instead had a conversation about moving on from Barney’s apartment that was certainly entertaining, but a bit of a letdown considering the tease.
One of the more interesting parts of the clip is how it yet again makes you bring into question Ted’s viability as a narrator. We have always liked to think that her purposefully embellishes the story at times in order to make things a little bit more entertaining for his children, which is thus why the story about Barney’s train tricks in the bedroom is added. Nobody can really have these … right?
Since we’d be going down a pretty slippery slope if we were to talk about the plausibility of everything that Ted narrates, let’s instead focus for a second on the real significance of this scene: Barney and Robin decide that they need to find a place that represents a fresh start to them, and one of the prerequisites of this is that they try to find it in a place that Barney does not have any sort of romantic history at. (Of course, this may be a little bit more difficult than it initially seems based on who this character is.)
What do you think about the video below, and how important do you think it is for Barney and Robin to have this talk sooner rather than later? If you want to see another video from this “How I Met Your Mother” episode, you can do so by heading on over to the link here.
