‘American Idol’ season 12: Adam Lambert, Jennifer Hudson to get update segments
While we don’t know whether or not Adam Lambert or Jennifer Hudson are going to be performing on “American Idol”at any point later this season, what we can say at the moment is this: they will at least receive some sort of attention via a “where are they now?” segment airing during an upcoming results show.
According to a new report from TV Guide (via Mjsbigblog), executive producer Nigel Lythgoe is going to be working to highlight all sorts of contestants from years past during this segment. The two singers mentioned above are clearly going to be examples of those who have become superstars thanks to the show, but the segment is also going to feature some other performers who have not been as successful since appearing on the show, including season 3 contestant LaToya London. The purpose here is not necessarily to put some former contestants in a more positive light than others, but to show that there are all sorts of opportunities that participants on the show receive moving forward, even if not all of them end up becoming superstars.
Are we going to see a star from this season rival Adam or Jennifer? At the moment we have to admit that we’re skeptical. As stellar as Candice Glover is vocally, we don’t know where she goes on the radio; we think that Kree Harrison probably has the best shot of succeeding as of anyone, but even she may struggle with the sole fact that country is as competitive a genre as they come.
What do you think about “American Idol” doing this? If you want to see what Curtis Finch Jr. had to say about his elimination this week, be sure to head on over to the link here.

AI has not promoted Adam in its opening credits or video shorts. His face flashes in the opening credits. You have to pause the video to see him.
I think Adam would be better as the permanent mentor rather than as a judge. What is missing from AI this year is performance quality. How many ballads did we hear so far? How many of the contestants stood at the microphone and didn’t move their feet? How many were singing sad songs with happy eyes and a smile on their faces? Nobody is coaching them on how to perform. They all have good voices. Voices don’t get votes. Performance quality gets votes.
Someone posted all of Adam’s AI performances and the judge’s comments in a single video on Youtube. Watch it and then watch them now. The judges are making song choice the determining factor as to whether the singers performed well. The problem is that they do not know how to interpret the songs to perform them. Another mistake they make is that they keep the microphone in front of their mouthes the entire song. Watch Adam and you will see how different his performance is when you can see his mouth when he sings. When he smiles when he sings, the performance shines.

I think the fact that American Idol went to Shanghai to get video footage of Adam for the segment they are planning to do on him this season speaks volumes. They could have used local footage or footage from archives etc. Adam is that pivitol to their show.
He had set the bar and no one has passed it yet, or in my opinion, has even come close to it since Adam’s season! I will go one step further to predicting that Adam will perform on this season as well as being chosen as a judge for next season.
Why go to China for footage unless you are planning something big for him. Adam not only “saved” AI during season 8 every time he appears on the show ratings soar. American Idol’s thoughts on only having judges for one season makes me believe that Adam’s shot at judging is for next season’s. This will be a great build up for that plan!! Ties in rather nicely. Still love the only singing show that has a former contestant on the judging panel angle. No other show has enough contestants in their pool to do that. Mariah Carey has about the same amount of personality that Britney Spears has and look what happened to her with the X Factor. Yawn………………………….

I hope Adam will sing this season, #1 so I can look forward to watching and #2 so that I can attempt the task of acquiring tickets to see Adam sing live on AI. He does bring excitement where ever he performs! Thanks for keeping us informed about Adam.

I meant to say, “sell records like Rhianna.” I can’t spell. Add a comma after Jennifer (I should have added Hudson).

By the way, thanks for the segment on Adam and Jennifer Matt. You’ve been a great supporter of Adam. He should be the biggest star in the world to me. And everyone thinks Hudson has been so successful (which she has), but not in record sales. She has done amazing things and has a great voice. It’s nice to see you don’t have to see records like Rhianna for people to see how good you are.

I’ll only watch IDOL if there is a segment on or performance by Adam. He is the best contestant ever. Ironically, my favorite from Season 3 was Latoya. I’ve seen her in musicals. I like that they will show other sides of success besides just the over-rated IDOL alums who get all the radio airplay. Adam has done amazing things when you consider he was making $1800.00 a week in the chorus of Wicked. I hope they spend quite a bit of time on Queenbert and their amazing concerts. He is huge in Asia and many other countries. Only the US lags behind in recognizing brilliance. He would be a great judge, but I’m hoping for a world tour with Queen yet. Yes I am a Glambert!

I’m really looking forward to next week to see Adam Lambert feat. on AI. The show hasn’t been the same since he graced the AI stage. He brought so much excitement to the otherwise bland shows over the past seasons. Adam is conquering the world stage one city at a time. His world tour is very successful.

Surely an appearance or segment featuring Adam Lambert is mandatory.

Have to say this season is lukewarm at best, simply the worst boys group in their history…Adam Lambert set the bar for all who follow but agree that Kree has the best chance…what i miss from season 8 is the fun…the energy but most of all,the excitement that year generated…the Adams and the Haleys of the world just do not come along that often….good luck Kree but what a lackluster season and don’t get me started about the judging…
