‘American Horror Story’ season 3 will be ‘American Horror Story: Coven’

American Horror StoryWell, it turns out that some of the rumors surrounding a Salem or a witchcraft theme on “American Horror Story” season 3 were not that far off at all, at least based on the latest announcements coming in from PaleyFest. The hit FX series will be back once again in the fall, and we have a title for it already: “American Horror Story: Coven.”

While there are still many more details that still need to be shared over the coming weeks and months, we do want to very quickly share for you this line from Ryan Murphy, which should get you more than a little excited about what sort of witchy warfare we are in store to see very soon:

“You’re going to see a lot of scenes with Kathy Bates and Jessica Lange going at it.”

Early indications are that Bates is going to be playing a particularly awful woman, and it is one that Murphy has teased as being one of the most awful and terrifying roles of the Academy Award-winner’s career.

Meanwhile, Murphy also confirmed at the event that New Orleans will indeed be one of the settings for the new season, which will take place over a number of cities. Based on the fact that Jessica Lange’s character is described as a “glamour cat,” you can go ahead and rule out the possibility of this being set during the days of witch trials and the like. This will be the first season that does a substantial amount of traveling, and hopefully this will give it a different feel than either of the first two years.

What do you want to see happen on this coming “American Horror Story” season? We want to hear some more of your thoughts below!
