‘Game of Thrones’ season 3 spoilers: All about dragons
When you remember all of the allusions to fire on “Game of Thrones,” it’s pretty easy to tell that dragons are going to play a very major role in the rest of the series. They have been cherished by just about everyone that has come in contact with them, and it’s no surprise at all to see just what happened in the town of Qarth during season 2.
However, it’s looking like these are no longer going to be the same sort of creatures that you go “aww” at in the near future. Speaking in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer David Benioff explained just how different these dragons are going to be when the show returns for season 3 on March 31:
“This is an interesting time for the dragons … When they were born they were adorable. Last season, as you say, they were still kind of cute. But now they’re turning into proper flying dragons. One of the interesting things about the books, and hopefully the show, is that the weapons of mass destruction in this world are living breathing things. And as they get older that presents problems.”
Meanwhile, fellow executive producer D.B. Weiss also explained to the publication that even as they grow older, there is still one person who will love them much in the same exact way as when they were smaller:
“They’re still cute to Daenerys … They’re her babies. But her babies can burn down a house in a few minutes and they’re getting increasingly terrifying to everyone around her. At some point she will have to reckon with the fact her babies are all grown up.”
