‘The X Factor’ USA notes: Emblem3, Astro, and Fifth Harmony with a ‘Harlem Shake’
Let’s start this edition of “The X Factor” notes with something that you all pretty much had to assume was coming at this point: one of the groups from the show making a viral video all about the “Harlem Shake.” It’s the smart thing to do right now: it’s easy publicity, and keeps people remembering you while you are waiting to do something substantial.
In comparing the Fifth Harmony version (released a little earlier this week) to all of the other “Harlem Shake” videos out there, the ladies do a pretty good job of letting the fun shine through. There are also a few little moments in here that are going to stay in our brain for a while (either for very good or very bad reasons):
1. The leader of this dance movement is apparently Mysterio from “Spider-Man” wearing a set of dreadlocks.
2. Someone in this video is very proud of their hairy chest. Maybe a little too proud.
Where do you think this video stacks up with some other fun takes on this dance craze? Be sure to share in the comment box below!
Emblem3 has a new website – Just in case you haven’t checked out the brand-new page of all things Emblem3, you really should. It’s very spiffy, and it gives that extra layer of “awesome” to everything Keaton, Wes, and Drew are doing right now. The only complaint we have is that we wish the text on the blog roll was a little bolder, but for an artists’ website that is actually a pretty good thing if that’s the only problem.
Astro scores movie role – Finally, some very awesome news for all of the astronauts out there: your favorite rapper just landed a movie role! According to ComingSoon.net, he will be playing the part of an aspiring (but also homeless) young artist in the upcoming feature film “A Walk Among the Tombstones.” This is no small production, either, as Liam Neeson and Dan Stevens (of “Downton Abbey” fame) are among the stars.
Astro is probably one of the few contestants in reality TV history who probably didn’t need the show for anything other than to find connections to blow his talent up to another level. He was really good in “Person of Interest,” and you’ve already seen enough of his rapping to know how talented he is there.
