‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 8 spoilers: New casting details suggest…

Are we about to meet someone from another country on “How I Met Your Mother” season 8? Well, it’s certainly possible, as we already know that the upcoming 22nd episode of the season is entitled “Romeward Bound.” More than anything else, the following scoop that we have to share really seems to be just further verification that there could be a trip coming up for at least one of the characters.

According to a brand-new report from SpoilerTV, the show’s casting department is at the moment on the lookout for someone to play the character of an Italian art auctioneer during this episode. Do we really have to spell out whose story this character is a part of? We’re presuming that we don’t, but we will put two and two together here and assume that either Lily is getting very involved with the Italian-American community, or she is literally going to be heading off to Rome courtesy of her new job with the Captain.

While it’s clear that Alyson Hannigan’s character got extremely lucky with the chance to work with someone who is clearly so established and in a field that she loves, we are personally rather thrilled to be seeing her get so much more of a storyline in the new year beyond just being the token wife / mother character that she could have easily turned into in lesser hands. Lily really has not had a chance to do anything exciting career-wise in several seasons, so there are a myriad of questions that come with this, including if she takes Marshall and Marvin and if she gets into any other adventures in Rome.
