‘Homeland’ season 3 executive producers book ‘Jericho’ star for CBS pilot
Just how promising is the new CBS pilot “Anatomy of Violence” at the moment? Let’s just say that they are now bringing together the executives behind one of the best shows on TV (in “Homeland”) with the stars of one of the biggest cult TV shows of all time.
Multiple sources have confirmed that “Jericho” star Skeet Ulrich has been cast to play one of the leading roles in the show from Alex Carey, Howard Gordon, and Alex Cary of the Showtime drama, as he will play a criminal psychiatrist with a knack for trying to figuring out what makes sociopaths tick. (Warning: “Homeland” spoilers ahead!)
This series also stars “Homeland” star David Harewood, whose character of CIA director Estes was killed during the season 2 finale in the bombing that was pinned on Nicholas Brody. The show has a promising team and cast behind it already, and for this reason alone you have to think that the odds are fairly high that it will get picked up, even though CBS has only a few hours potentially open here on such nights as Tuesdays, Fridays, and maybe even Sundays if they move certain things around.
On the flip side, the big negative that we have with this series at the moment is pretty simple: doesn’t this sound a heck of a lot like “Criminal Minds”? We don’t know how many more shows CBS really needs about tracking down criminals or psychopaths. It’s just going to have a much harder time standing out.
