‘Glee’ season 4 song spoilers: See Dean Geyer, Lea Michele’s new performance
It’s not every often this season that you see Dean Geyer’s character of Brody actually serving as the anchor for a performance, but this is precisely what we are getting for the upcoming performance of “How To Be a Heartbreaker” from Marina & the Diamonds on Thursday night’s “Feud” episode of “Glee.” Which Lea Michele’s Rachel Berry is indeed present, she spends more of her time doing backup vocals on the song.
We really like the original version of the song, and we were excited to see how it would be interpreted on the show from the moment it was revealed. Geyer handles the song really well, which is not easy considering that it is both fun and also dark at the same time. Rachel comes in primarily during the bridge, but then lets Brody once again dominate the chorus.
As for the context of the song, it should be pretty easy to figure out: Brody is up to some pretty shady stuff at the moment with his mysterious stacks of money, and regardless of whether he is selling drugs (or himself?), this double life he is living is sure to crush Rachel eventually. After all, this is the sort of thing that cannot be hidden forever.
We will say this, even completely aside from the character and anything going on with him and Rachel: we feel pretty sorry for Dean. He obviously went on the show knowing that his character could lead to backlash simply because he’s not Finn Hudson, but did he ever imagine it ultimately being this bad? The guy has actually resorted now to deleting his Twitter account, and while it not be solely due to some of the negativity he has received over the past few weeks, that has to play a role, right? Just the fact that he has made so many fans hate Brody is yet another sign that he’s doing a great job in the role; it’s unfortunate that there are so many assumptions among young fans that Dean and Brody are the same person just because of who he plays on TV.
What do you think about this performance? If you want to hear Naya Rivera sing a certain Paula Abdul classic during this episode, you can do so here.

Lol seriously people??? Dean is definitely not a better singer than Cory. Dancer yes, but absolutely not a better actor or singer. Brody is the most hated character in Glee right now and not just by Finchel fans. Most of the glee fandom thinks he’s a huge douchebag. Anyone who hides the fact that they’re a prostitute or drug dealer from their supposed “girlfriend” has some serious
issues. Lea and Dean have zero chemistry. I have no problem with Dean because he is not Brody but Brody sucks and needs to leave. Bye Bye Brody

Yes Kyler,
I Totally Agree.
There is nothing wrong with Dean Geyer or the Role of ‘Brody’
So what if he isnt the greatest singer, but none of you moan about Brittany the fact she can’t actually sing, and has to mime (terrible at miming too)
At least with Dean he is 100% better singer/Dancer and actor then That Stupid Douche Bag called Finn..
Seriously Grow up and stop hating on brody.
See you around Dean ;)

Psh. NO CHEMISTRY MY ASS! Lea and Dean have way more chemistry than her and Cory ever had. Plus Dean can, sing, dance, and act way better than Finn. People are just mad that Brody is getting in the way of their precious Finchel. Really, people?! Grow up! It’s a television show! Keep up the good work Dean and ignore the haters.

The reason fans don’t like Brody isn’t because he’s not Finn. The actor was HORRIBLE! He and Lea had ZERO chemistry. He couldn’t keep his accent from slipping, he showed no emotion, he was wooden in every scene. He’s also not a very good singer, he sounds strained, granted it’s not easy to keep up vocally with Lea Michele but this guy wasn’t even in close! The truth is the guy was hired for his super cut body because he spent more time shirtless then acting! As for How To Be a Heartbreak, not a good cover at all! Glee has too many great singers for them to be wasting songs on this guy.

The reason people did not like Brody, eventhough Brody was written as a nice guy was because Dean played him as ,according to Santana , pretty plastic, he never really demonstrated the emotion that the character was suppose to display. Dean really needed a good publicist to monitor what he said on twitter and in interviews, please don’t tell people that you are too lazy to take acting classes.
