NBC’s ‘Community’ season 4 spoilers: More on a Shirley – Troy story
Leading up to the start of “Community” season 4, one of the things that Yvette Nicole Brown said she was the most excited to see was an opportunity for her character of Shirley Bennett to spend some time with Troy. Luckily, we now have some more evidence of this happening very soon in the show’s future.
NBC recently released the official description for the March 28 episode entitled “Economics of Marine Biology,” and it is going to be physical education more than anything else that brings these two characters together. Check out all of the details below, along with an interesting story involving both Jeff and the Dean:
“Dean Pelton (Jim Rash) sets his sights on ‘whale’ (otherwise known as a wealthy potential student) and enlists Jeff (Joel McHale), Britta (Gillian Jacobs) and Annie (Alison Brie) to help in his recruiting efforts. Pierce (Chevy Chase) finds out and is incensed. Meanwhile, Abed (Danny Pudi) begins a new Greendale fraternity, while Troy (Donald Glover) and Shirley (Yvette Nicole Brown) begin a physical education instruction class, in which Shirley excels… and Troy struggles.”
We already know that Shirley is a woman of unusual talents: while she certainly wants to be a good cook (despite being rather terrible at it), she did show last season that she is more than a little excellent at foosball. Plus, she had an interesting amount of knowledge about some of the items in Pierce’s “special gym” earlier this season (during that subpar episode we’re still trying to forget about).
Are you excited to see what sort of greatness this story could bring, or does the uneven nature of this season so far automatically hamper your expectations? We want to hear some more of your thoughts below, and you can watch Gillian Jacobs’ recent interview for “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” over at the link here.
