‘Big Brother Canada’ interview: Danielle Alexander talks alliances, blindside

DanielleYou cannot ever get too comfortable in the “Big Brother Canada” house, and if you do, you are probably going to find yourself sent home before you know it. This ultimately seems to be what caused Danielle Alexander’s undoing this season: she felt as though she was safe when put up as a replacement nominee against Aneal, and was ultimately blindsided on the show last night by the vast majority of the house.

So now that she is on the other side, what does the aspiring actress have to say about her overall experience? In a conference call with reporters on Friday, we have a chance to ask about some of the house’s alliances, and who would have been her targets had she stayed in the game.

Cartermatt.com – First of all, is there awareness among some of the ladies in the house that there is this strong four-guy alliance in the house, and do you think that they are going to do anything about it?

Danielle Alexander – I do think that they realize that there is this guy bond in the house, because I talked to Jillian this week and she was like ‘we can have a strong girl alliance, [though] it never works because girls back-stab each other, but I do think that we can stick together.’ But then, it didn’t work because she back-stabbed me. You know what? I don’t think that [the ladies] are going to do it, and I think that the guys in the house will take over and they will succeed.

Was there any one moment looking back where you think that the house may have turned against you and was leaning towards keeping Aneal? Do you wish that you had sucked up more to the people in power?

No, I was actually completely shocked. I got suspicious when Aneal was spending a lot of time in the HoH room, or when he was talking with Emmett a lot one-on-one. I thought it was pretty suspicious, but everyone else assured me that they were being nice to him because he was leaving in a couple of days, and ‘we don’t want him to feel out of place in the house.’ I was like ‘oh yeah,’ and I felt so confident in Jillian and everyone else that I didn’t feel like I had to suck up. I felt that it was just so solid that I had to be myself. They were really good at lying to me and the way they played me, and unfortunately I was too naive and it got me sent home.

So had you stayed and won HoH, who would you have wanted to put on the block?

I would have put up Tom and Jillian. While Jillian said she wanted this girls’ alliance, deep down it didn’t [feel] right with her. And Tom, he is not my favorite person. (Laughs.)
