‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: Justin Timberlake is still hilarious
Considering that Justin Timberlake has had plenty of practice hosting “Saturday Night Live” over the years, you had to expect that the first preview for this weekend’s show was going to be funny. However, who knew that it would easily be the best one of the entire season by a pretty wide margin?
Generally, these promos are just a series of little gags that are moderately amusing, but never really give too much away since the show prefers to save its best material for the actual program itself. However, Timberlake and Kenan Thompson really have some pretty good gags here, including a delightful riff on Justin’s recent hit “Suit & Tie,” some jabs about just how much during the broadcast he is going to do (in between hosting and performing, and just how much of a masochist he may be).
The last time Timberlake hosted was back during the season finale in 2011, and it is widely regarded as one of the best hosting gigs of the past several years. Not only did he perform a new Digital Short with Andy Samberg (who is sadly no longer a part of the cast), but he also did a memorable sketch with musical guest Lady Gaga while dressed as a bottle of giant singing bottle of booze.
Timberlake is in full-on promotional mode at the moment for “The 20/20 Experience,” his new album that is set to arrive in stores later this spring. In an effort to better promote it, he is also going to be making an appearance soon on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” for an entire week.
