‘The X Factor’ USA notes: Emblem3, Carly Rose Sonenclar, Demi Lovato
There are not necessarily any enormous stories breaking at the moment from the world of “The X Factor” USA, but we do have a few quick hits when it comes to what some of the other singers related to the competition are up to.
Let’s start first and foremost with Emblem3, who confirmed the speculation recently that “Chloe,” which they first showed off while at The Roxy in Los Angeles during their California tour last week. In addition to that, the band also announced in a statement that they will be doing another tour in California in April, and they also sold out all of their upcoming shows on the east coast.
Here is what Wes Stromberg of the band specifically had to say:
“WOW, This is incredible, all sell-out shows. A year ago we played the Roxy to 20 people and Wednesday night it was packed! The energy from the fans has been amazing and we can’t wait to come to New York for the first time and play in front of all the Emblems, thank you and see you soon!”
Speaking of tours, Demi Lovato is also back on stage around the country for the first time since the end of season 2, and while she did not post any performances on her official YouTube page recently, she did present a look at just what it is like from her perspective coming out on stage and seeing all of her fans.
Carly hits Broadway – Finally, we want to point out that Carly Rose Sonenclar hit up another Broadway show this year, not long after attending “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark” with some kids from the Starlight Children’s Foundation. This time around, she showed up in order to celebrate the enchanting opening of “Cinderella.” We don’t have any official photos that we can share just yet, but we will let you know what when do.

Young people do drive radio but album sells not as much. Carly does have young fans as well as older fans though. So it will depend on what single she&her label decide as a first single. It’s crucial for all new and emerging acts to pick great singles. Carly’s not going to be a pop star in the 1D/Demi Tradition. I think some of you need to get that out of your heads. Just because she’s young doesn’t mean she needs to be singing teen pop. She wants to be soul pop and Radio and Album sells have been pretty diverse in the last few years.
Feeling good is the song that went viral and is the one she is hired to sing. She tries to change it up each time she sings it to keep it fresh. The latest performance was not meant to a mass audience but those at the conference. She has put out a bunch of covers that isn’t Feeling good.

Cassidy and Nicole, I couldn’t disagree with you more and I’m 14. Many of Carly’s fans that post things about her are in their teens and their feedback is nothing but positive. When she does interview like the one on Radio Disney she is acting her age without sounding unintelligent. There have only been a select few of you who thinks she is too reserved and if she is who cares that’s their personality. Have you ever heard an interview by Taylor Swift? Incredibly reserved yet nobody seems to complain. In reality, most true artists (ones who write, compose, etc.) tend to have some eccentric personalities. If you’re going to hate on someone because they’re too reserved that sounds more like a personal problem.

Omg. Yes. Cassidy. I have tried telling people that. I know she’s capable of fun. I’ve seen her dance. Acting silly I guess is a bad thing to adults. But we aren’t adults. We’re kids. I wish carly rose could sing something besides that audition song all the time. Sing Beyonce, kelly clarkson, Whitney, Mariah or Alicia keys.

Why are we even talking about Carly all the time? I get that she’s talented but sometimes when you adore someone you should know they have flaws. Carly is a fantastic singer. She’s young and has plenty of time to have a career. But her biggest flaw is she is too reserved. Younger people find her maturity and quiet nature to be off putting whereas her older fans find it endearing. Young people drive the market and I’m sorry Carly Rose but you have to become better at reaching out to the younger fan base who buy records. Like have fun for once. You always look like you hate performing. You don’t look happy at all when you perform like your recent video at Usa Today. You didn’t look like you were happy.

To the person who said Lea Michele was on Glee because of a “failed pop career” YOU ARE AN IDIOT. That’s utter stupidity. Lea was a rising Broadway star who made the bold move to television. She never had the intentions of being of pop star. Don’t be silly.
Broadway houses the most talented people in the entire industry. It’s a difficult thing to do and only the best get in.

I only watch x-factor or idol if they end up with a singer that I really enjoy and that fascinates me. Even then, more often than not, I watch the performances after the show on my own time. But as we see from last season with x-factor, it really doesn’t matter who wins. The top six or so get plenty of exposure from which to launch a career. Say what you want about Simon but consider all of the talented singers we wouldn’t know about today if not for his efforts. He keeps control of the show and without him, American Idol has been pathetic.
I am glad they are taking their time with Carly. She is 13. Only another teen can’t understand why they absolutely need to take their time. Think about it. I predict she’ll be recording this summer when she is out of school and can focus entirely on her new album. She has until then to settle with a label.

I’m done with xfactor too!!! Simon does have the only say in the end anyway so what’s the point. Votes really don’t matter.

March 6, 2013 @ 8:12 pm
btw i agree with “Done with X-Factor”…. obviously carly was better than all the other contestants combined, and she didnt win….thats really weird, seems fraudulent. i agree the “voting” means nothing, the whole thing is mostly staged im starting to think. but one part of the show is real and cant be faked, and thats the talent that certain contestants have, and carly rose surely showed what shes got and it paid off cuz shes gonna have TONS of success very soon

carly rose sonenclar rules! the best singer ive ever heard, ill be a fan for life. cant wait for her album to be released, so exciting! love you carly rose<3

My problem with the show is that the votes really did not mean much. Simon picked his two groups that came in 3rd and 4th. He keeps Carly waiting for 2 months and then finally picks her up. What is the point in voting when Simon will just do as he pleases. Simon is the judge and jury for the show. I found the whole voting process a waste of time since nothing really counted in the end. I like 5H and Carly and I hope both have successful careers but I am not watching next season.

A thirteen-year-old hasn’t had time to fail at popular music. It is fair to say that many pop singers wouldn’t go to a broadway show, a museum, a symphony performance or anything cultural for that matter. They are manufactured for an audience that wouldn’t know culture if it ran over them like a bus.
My hope for Carly at this moment is that she is studying and going to school like any other girl her age. I’m sure they are keeping her busy along with the friends that will make her well-rounded and firmly rooted – after all, do we really need another Lindsey Lohan or Brittney Spears? Carly will shine in her time and her time may not yet be upon us. I have children older than her and I’d advise them to study and that they have their entire life ahead of them to be a star.
Simon isn’t stupid. Nobody throws a thirteen-year-old into the limelight unless they want them sleeping in a vacuum sealed ultra-violet whatever that Michael Jackson used. Let Carly grow up!!!! There will be plenty of time to enjoy her talented singing voice.

Mary-Beth & Music – I totally agree. Awesome comments. Carly is amazing. And it pisses me off when people say such cruel, hurtful and mean things about her. She does not deserve it. And it is so untrue what they’re saying. Thank you for standing up for Carly. She is an incredible 13 year old. Who is smart, sweet, kind and generous. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OR SEEN HER BE SNOBBY OR STUCK UP OR BORING. She is a cute adorable and she never puts anyone else down. She is a nice person. I love her interviews. She has a great personality I loved her on radio Disney
Scott
March 6, 2013 @ 5:22 pm
Well said Mary-Beth….try not to let the jealous immature’s on here get under your skin, as Music said they’re clueless.
Carly will absolutely be fine….to accomplish her wide and diverse fan base worldwide in such a short time is an unbelievable accomplishment. She’s going to impact the music world in ways that don’t come along but once a generation or two, mark my words.
Music
March 6, 2013 @ 5:02 pm
You know you’ve made it when you have haters. Gina is the reason why the music industry sucks. Fake, commercial, no talent morons being idolized by the equally dumb and clueless. Carly will be just fine. She’s growing an impressive fanbase. The early market projections show her reaching broad age ranges which is extremely rare for a 13 yr old. No one else is testing like her from the X Factor. She’s being invited as a guest to Broadway shows, at the same time Radio Disney, and then performing at corporate events. Oh, and when labels bid for someone, it’s because they want them, badly. Hence why more than one label compete for your services. It’s a good thing to happen to an artist.
Mary-Beth Logue
March 6, 2013 @ 2:43 pm
Shut up you dumb jealous jerks. I would use a better swear word but I’ve been edited on here before. Why are you putting down a 13 year old girl who is basically still a baby? Jealous much? And F U Lily. I don’t believe ur story. U have no evidence. The x factor edits people a certain way like they made Cece a mean person but everyone who meets her or has worked with her say she’s an absolute sweetheart. Carly does have a great personality you’re just not watching her recent videos that aren’t x factor. And how would u react in interviews at 13 if you are asked the same dumb questions? Everyone is awkward at 13. She’ll learn. She’s pretty and young. She’l get it down. It just takes getting used to. All those questions and cameras get annoying so shut up. If I’m shopping and want privacy its pretty annoying if you’re gonna bother me. And Diamond, Carly, and Beatrice are friends and all 3 are beautiful. Look at their instagrams. They all like each othr and get along really well. They have different styles but that’s ok. Like Diamond is more whitney/beyonce, Bea is Avril/Gwen/Alanis/sheryl crowe, and Carly is Adele/kellyclarkson/aliciakeys. I wish them all well because the music industry is cut throat.
Scott
March 6, 2013 @ 2:29 pm
Beckylee…well said. And Gina, everything with you is materialistic. I don’t know much about Beatrice only that she really enjoys her punk side and she continues to stay true to herself, that’s a good thing. Most musical stars end up doing something different than what the label originally wants them to do any way. So yes, perhaps she would capture a larger audience by girling things up a little, but she probably wouldn’t be happy….is that worth it? By the way, constantly doing things that others wan you to do just to please them and continue to manufacture the money those leaches are after is the quickest way stars fall and find themselves smothered in some type of addiction.

March 6, 2013 @ 1:51 pm
You are wrong about Drew Ryniewicz, adam. She’s not marketable. Sorry but she’s not good looking enough. She reminds me of Tori Kelly and Haley Reinhart, pretty voices but not good looking enough. You make it big if your beautiful just ask Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Katy Perry, who aren’t great live singers but they sing good enough on their albums. Plus they have personalities and are actually nice to their fans. I think Beatrice would have a bigger fan base if she becomes more girly like wear dresses and make up. She’s prettier than Carly. She can pull it off. And Beatrice has a personality.

You don’t have to like Carly. No one says you do. Some of us do though. And thinking she’s unmarketable is fine too but to mock her and Broadway is juvenile. Carly has been doing Broadway like shows since she was 7 and really only did X factor to try and be a pop star. She’s new at trying to be a pop star.
Carly is 13 (14 next month) and even if she didn’t get signed out of X factor that wouldn’t remotely be the end of her try at being a pop star. Very few people are pop stars that young. Simon chose to mentor groups because he already had an idea of what he wanted. That doesn’t mean Carly can’t be successful. Carly wants to be like Bruno Mars and Alicia Keys. Soul pop. She will be marketed in a lot different way than E3 and 5H.
Carly couldn’t talk to labels until Simon chose to pick up her option or not. He had rights until April. He went on vacation and it wasn’t until he came back that talks even started. Carly was supposed to sign with Syco at the end of January but there was issues to settle and that finally happened at the end of February. You will see in about a month when Carly is officially signed to a label that she has signed with CAA with a good rep as well.
Btw, Melanie Amaro isn’t the same as the other girls you mentioned. She’s not into musical theater and nor does she write on her own songs like Carly has and plans too. Melanie didn’t know herself as an artist and she allowed her label to give her auto-tuned dance songs. Melanie has a great voice but she isn’t an artist yet. Then she allowed herself to be hid for a year. I ache for her I do. Carly has already went out and about even without a label. Girl has talent and drive. We’ll see what happens with Carly’s career in the next 5 years. I’m rooting for her.
And I do love E3 and 5H. E3 was ready to record and hit before X factor and 5H was created by Simon. They were both then mentored by him. They do have a huge head start on Carly but so what. Carly is younger and a different type of artist then them. I’m rooting for all 3. I love Diamond and Beatrice as well.

A stars marketability relies on fans and Carly already has a much larger fan base than any of them which will only grow with more exposure. There are nearly a million of her fans and people in her community and even Simon himself that disagree with both Adam and Gina about her personality. Simon said she’s quite cool compared to other female singers who are teenagers and that he believes she can sell records now….LA Reid said the same thin….oh by the way those two are Executives for well known record labels so have a little more knowledge about the subject than any of us. Carly comes off as grounded, humble, intelligent and appreciative of this opportunity. Gina you constantly mention that she’s a rich kid from Westchester which simply means your jealous, get over it. She certainly doesn’t act like a spoiled kid. She’s incredibly marketable and will have the most success of any of her colleagues from X Factor
adam
March 6, 2013 @ 12:22 pm
^ Forgot to mention I also think Beatrice is extremely marketable for movies, tv and voice.
adam
March 6, 2013 @ 12:21 pm
^Yeah, you are right about the marketability. They failed miserably with Melanie Amaro. Hopefully she can land a gig with a Gospel Label or similiar. Carly has the same problem. Huge voice but lacking emotion and personality. Once she is 18 or so she can push her parents and host of management companies out of the way and have a real career on her own. Her voice is perfect for broadway or Celine Dion type songs.
So far from both X Factor seasons the most marketable IMO are Rachel Crow, Fifth Harmony, E3 and possibly upcoming Drew Ryniewicz. These people have personality and unique qualities in addidtion to great voices. Simply put they are FUN to watch and listen to.

March 6, 2013 @ 11:21 am
Becky, everyone knows if you failed in your attempt at a pop star career, you go back to broadway or you go to broadway. Or tv shows that cater to broadway type people. Shows like glee or smash. Katherine mcphee, failed pop career is on smash. Lea Michelle, failed pop career on glee. Jennifer hudson was on smash. She has a failed pop career because she’s known for doing tributes to people who die like m.jackson or whitney houston. And MUSIC, if labels were bidding for her, she would’ve chosen a label by now. There’s a reason there is a delay. Not marketable. Just like melanie amaro. Fifth harmony and emblem 3 are getting more promotion by x factor and syco music. They’re doing loads of interviews out in hollywood while carly is in school in new york. Emblem 3 sold out shows. And just watch 5H go on tour with one direction. And sure, you can attack them all you want but I don’t care for either groups. Just pointing out that Simon clearly wanted those groups before Carly bc those groups were told during finale week that they were getting a recording contract. And carly was barely told they were picking up her option. I prefer Diamond White, Beatrice Miller, and Rachel Crow because they don’t fake emotions when they sing and they aren’t rich kids from westchester.

Omg I saw video of carly rose’s interview yesterday and she mentioned beatrice miller is signed? Is this true? If so, I’m so excited for her album. Truthfully I like Carly she seems like a sweettheart but I have a strange feeling I won’t like her music bc it’ll be more adultlike. And I’m 14.

Lily AKA lilyA your comments are nowway past jealous and are bordering on crazy.
you are giving away way too much info if in fact you do know Carly.you should think carefully about what you sat and do as you are heading for legal actions for verbally stalking a young lady. Carly’s family should have you checked out to see if your are as insane as you sound…….leave her alone you jealous nutcase.

Carly just walked the red carpet and watched the musical. It’s not like she was in it. And Carly wouldn’t crawl back to Broadway. It’s not a place you crawl back too. Its hard to get cast and takes a lot of hard work. If the part was right, most people would do Broadway if they could get cast. Some of the comments here are so annoying. Carly is keeping busy and her performance skills up. She did a corporate event today for @gannett and sung Rolling in the deep and Feeling good. Here’s a backstage interview http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ome5PqTCsmo She talks about signing with syco and her future. Nothing really new but it’s a nice little interview.

Natasha…you didn’t have to pay anything to see her cover, it was on YouTube that same night. In reality, your question isnt legitimate because The money they raised was donated to The Starlight Children’s Foundation….you know raising money for a good cause to help children. I gladly paid quite of bit more than $5 for that good cause and to see her cover. She assured fans that were unable to participate in the fund raiser that the video would be on YouTube for all her fans to see. Not biting your head off but perhaps do a little homework before making assumptions. In the future, if they do it again to help raise funds and you don’t want to help raise funds for a good cause, don’t pay. Simply wait a few minutes after it airs and you’ll be able to see it for free on YouTube, her site and a couple of other fan sites on the web. And Lily I highly doubt any one cares what you did with her photo and if you do go to school with her, you’re the exact reason why people like Carly who are thrust in the spot light should be home schooled. Jealousy gets you nowhere, invest some energy doing something positive.
Lily

Not really an update about Carly. She wasn’t at school today. But I threw one of her pictures in the trash.

I looked on websites and twitter. I don’t see an official announcement about carly rose getting signed. It’s been too long since her last cover was released. Is she waiting on releasing them so we have to pay for it first? Like her stageit we had to pay at least $5 to hear her talk and release a cover video. It’s a legitimate question so don’t bite my head off carlysangels.
