Ratings: History’s ‘The Bible’ and ‘Vikings’ great, but ‘Walking Dead’ still king

The Walking DeadIn case you were wondering why the ratings were down for so many broadcast shows this week, you can really just blame the domination that is currently happening on cable. There were two shows that actually beat everything that aired on network television; not only that, but the race was not even close in the 18-49 demographic.

Despite all of the well-deserved hype for History’s new miniseries “The Bible,” its 3.3 rating in the demo and over 13 million viewers (which is pretty old-skewing for cable) still did not put a dent into the “The Walking Dead.” This show survives the Oscars, the Grammys, and now even the story of God’s word to keep steady at its monster 5.7 rating. Can we officially say that this is the most dedicated fan base out of any on TV? It’s really not much of a stretch at this point.

In addition to “The Bible,” History also has to be feeling rather good about the fact that their first original series in “Vikings” debuted to a pretty strong 2.0 rating and over 6 million viewers. While not a home run on the same level, this is still very good for a network that has never launched an original property quite like this before. Moving forward, the challenge will merely be keeping people engaged courtesy of some other shows debuting, including “Mad Men” and “Game of Thrones.” While they do not necessarily air at the same timeslot, there is only so much TV that the average person can take in on one night.

Which one of the ratings above do you find most impressive? If you want to read some more scoop on what is coming up later on “The Walking Dead” season 3, you can do so by heading on over to the link here.
