ABC’s ‘Revenge’ season 2 spoilers: Back in time

RevengeUsually when we get an episode title for “Revenge,” it is just about the most ambiguous spoiler that we can receive for a show. These titles are notoriously vaguer than vague, and with such abstract concepts representing a full 43 minutes of programming, they can really be an indicator of anything.

Thankfully, we now have at least one iota of context for the show’s upcoming 19th episode of season 2. According to SpoilerTV, the installment will be entitled “Identity,” and will take us back in time at points to 1973. What’s going on then? Outside of the year being the title of a James Blunt song, it’s hard to say. This is long before Emily Thorne was born, and both Conrad and Victoria Grayson were very young at this time. Are we going to see their early days, or possibly a little bit more of the Clarke family history? Both of these questions are possibilities.

In going back to the actual title of the episode for a moment, it is pretty impossible to hear the word “identity” being said without picturing almost immediately Emily. Now that Amanda is dead, there is no one out there bearing her actual name, and we wonder just how much longer she is going to be able to keep her secret. This will eventually become an issue at some point on this series, and really the question is just when, how, and with what characters.
