‘Dexter’ season 8 spoilers: What’s up with Batista?
Leading into the start of “Dexter” season 8, there were plenty of questions … but one that was squarely had us wondering as of late is just what in the world is going to happen with one Angel Batista. The last we saw of the character, he was strongly considering retirement so that he could make one of his other dreams into a reality in the form of running his own restaurant. In doing so, he claimed that he was planning on possibly resigning his position at Miami Metro.
Is that still the case after the fact? Well, the photo that you are about to see could lead to some serious speculation. (If you don’t want to be surprised or possibly have your mind manipulated in any way, now is the time to stop reading.)
The photo to the left comes courtesy of David Zayas’ own Instagram, and it seems to show the actor (shown along with his father and Desmond Harrington) still sporting his Miami Metro police badge. What does this mean? There are a few theories:
1. He is now planning on sticking with the police after LaGuerta’s death, which surely means some bad things for one Dexter and Debra Morgan given their roles in her death.
2. He is staying for the time being, but is currently still plotting to resign in the near future. We don’t know specifically how long of a time jump the show is going to take, and this scene could be right after Maria’s death.
3. It’s a flashback. “Dexter” proved last season that they do love a good flashback every now and then.
Ultimately, there’s nothing substantial that you really can read into the photo, since it is also possible that the badge really doesn’t mean anything at all. If Batista is staying on the force (even for just a little while), we have to consider that a win given our love for the character doing what he does best.
Do you hope that Batista stays on the force? If you want to see some scoop on some upcoming “Dexter” season 8 episode titles, you can do so over at the link here.

To me it can mean only one thing:
that Batista’s retirement in the previous season was just another filler storyline. Let’s hope not…
