‘90210’ to end after five seasons in May
Remember how we wrote recently that Michael Jackson’s son Prince will be visiting “90210” for the finale? As it turns out, this is going to be the end of the series, and not just the season.
According to TVLine, the CW series, which was originally conceived as a revival of the popular “Beverly Hills, 90210” series of years past, is going to end on Monday, May 13. If you have followed the ratings for much of the past several weeks, then you are probably well aware already of the fact that the show has struggled as of late to find any sort of devoted audience at all. Routinely, it has scored lower than a 0.4 in the 18-49 demographic, and has even made the struggling first season of “The Carrie Diaries” appear strong.
Unfortunately, the problem with many of the network’s series is that they capitalize on a given time in someone’s life when they can relate to the characters, and then they start to become more than just a young adult and develop other things. The same sort of erosion happened to “Gossip Girl,” which was lucky to even have ten episodes this past fall to wrap up the series.
The good news for “90210” in learning this news now is that there is just enough time remaining for the series to concoct some sort of proper ending, and it is also reportedly going to be joined by some sort of retrospective looking back on some of the best moments for the show over the course of its run.
What is your reaction to “90210” ending its run: will you miss it, or was it beyond its time to go in your mind? If you want to hear some more on the Prince Jackson casting, you can do so over here.
