‘Sons of Anarchy’ season 6: Kurt Sutter finds time to develop new drama
We have talked for much of the year so far about some of what “Sons of Anarchy” showrunner Kurt Sutter is doing in preparation for the launch of season 6 of the beloved FX series, including his current work breaking down the story arcs for Jax and actually having a meeting with Charlie Hunnam to talk about what lies ahead.
Now, we’ve also learned that Sutter has been rather busy in addition to doing all of that. FX announced on Tuesday that he is teaming with former “Hell on Wheels” showrunner Josh Shiban to develop a new project called “Lucas Stand.” This show is described as a drama / horror show that revolves around a former special ops soldier with a startling history who is forced to travels across the mediums of time and space in order to hunt down all sorts of demons straight from Hell. This project is still in the early stages, so there is no word yet on casting or when a pilot could be presented to the network.
Sutter has been working on this series in part during the “Sons of Anarchy” production hiatus, and it is one of two prospective projects that he is currently working on under his development deal with the network. He also has a dark comedy project entitled “Diva,. Clown. Killer” that he is working on with Belle Zwerdling along with his wife (and “Sons of Anarchy” star) Katey Sagal.
When you remember that “Sons of Anarchy” is supposed to come to a close after season 7, it certainly makes sense that FX would get the ball rolling on some other Sutter creations. His show leads the network in viewership, and routinely defeated other shows on primetime in the 18-49 demographic this past season.
