NBC’s ‘The Voice’ season 4 spoilers: Former ‘American Idol’ finalist auditions
While we have previously seen a star of “American Idol” (in Frenchie Davis) audition and make it pretty far on “The Voice” in the past, there has never been someone have a blind audition on the show who actually made it to the live voting rounds of the Fox singing competition … at least until now.
In a new post on Twitter (via Mjsbigblog), season 3 alum Jon Peter Lewis announced that he did in fact give the NBC competition a go this past fall, and his blind audition will likely be aired on TV at some point later this spring:
“Hey all. I auditioned for The Voice on NBC! Check it out on March 25th to see how I did. #thevoicemarch25″
Lewis made it all the way to the top eight on his “American Idol” season, and was sent home just one week before a certain Oscar-winner by the name of Jennifer Hudson. What makes his story somewhat interesting is that it has not been almost a full decade since he was on the singing show, which should serve as an interesting opportunity to see just how much his style has progressed over the years. Plus, “American Idol” back during Lewis’ time was not a show that benefited singer / songwriters nearly as much as it has from season 7 onward. We don’t know if people like Phillip Phillips, Kris Allen, or Lee DeWyze would have played nearly as well had they been forced to perform without their guitars as they were during some of the early seasons.
What do you think about seeing Lewis again on TV? Be sure to shre some of your thoughts below, and you can hear what Shakira has to say about being a coach on this upcoming season over at the link here.
