‘America’s Got Talent’: Spice Girl, ‘Dancing with the Stars’ alum Mel B in talks
It looks as though the judging panel may finally be set for “America’s Got Talent” this summer, and executive producer Simon Cowell could not have made a better choice to add some tension to the judging panel.
According to a report from Entertainment Weekly, Spice Girl Mel B is in the final stage of negotiations in order to join the NBC summer series as a replacement to Sharon Osbourne, who made her intentions very clear last summer that she was planning to leave the show following a rift with the network over their handling of their son Jack in the series “Stars Earn Stripes.”
Mel and Cowell have a history together, with her serving as a judge on the Australian version of “The X Factor” for each of the past two seasons. She has also guest-judged on “The X Factor” UK, and was notoriously tough on a number of the contestants who came up on the stage. We hope that she brings some of that same sort of brutal honesty to this show, and it also helps that she has a biting sense of humor to boot.
Howard Stern confirmed months ago that he would be back for another season under his self-proclaimed title of “America’s judge,” whereas Howie Mandel recently announced that he would be back for another go after originally coming on years ago as a replacement to David Hasselhoff. While “Dancing with the Stars,” “American Idol,” “The X Factor,” and “The Voice” have all been lucky enough to retain at least one person from their original seasons, this show the longest-tenured member of the show is host Nick Cannon, who joined following stints by Regis Philbin and David Hasselhoff.
