‘American Idol’ notes: Adam Lambert, Jessica Sanchez, Haley Reinhart
Now that we are starting to get a little deeper into this “American Idol” season, the stories surrounding some of the show’s former contestants are also starting to pick up a little bit of steam. We’re kicking off things here with some big news for all Adam Lambert fans living across Asia, but even those in America are going to ultimately have something to appreciate here (at least in the form of some new concert videos to watch).
In a post on Twitter last night, Adam proclaimed that this new international tour will be called “We Are Glamily,” and for those of you who have not seen all of the dates compressed into a single article just yet, they go as follows:
February
17 (today) – Seoul, South Korea
19, 20, and 21 – Tokyo
23 – Kanazawa, Japan
25 – Nagoya, Japan
26 – Osaka, Japan
March
1 – Manila, Philippines
3 – Shanghai, China
8 – Singapore
10 – Jakarta, Indonesia
13 – Minsk, Belarus
16 – Moscow
18 – Kiev, Ukraine
20 – St. Petersburg, Russia
22 – Helsinki, Finland
Adam has already said that he will not be touring tragically in America with “Trespassing,” but hopefully that will change following the release of his upcoming third album, which we know that he is already working on in some shape or form.
Jessica Sanchez tributes Whitney Houston – Do you remember Jessica’s memorable performance of “I Will Always Love You” from this past season? In celebrating Whitney’s legacy one year following her death, the season 11 star reprised the song in a new video with Billboard. Be sure to check it out below.
A new Haley and Casey performance – We’re going to close things off here with something that we always personally love to see: Haley Reinhart and Casey Abrams performing together. While at the House of Blues in Los Angeles recently, the two rocked out to a set that included “Hit the Road, Jack” (which was on Casey’s debut album) along with the Beatles classic “All My Loving,” which you can see below.

I keep going to american idol; interscope web sites and Jessica Sanchez is never mentioned. I just don’t get it. All I see is phillips this phillips that what is going on. It’s way past time for some real Jessica updates. This girl has more vocal talent in her toe nail than Phillips will ever have. I’ve heard so many different single and album release dates I don’t know whats true and what not. It’s time give us JESSICA SANCHEZ

Adam Lambert can sing many genres of music beautifully. I think he is the most versatile and talented singer ever. His talent will shine through, no matter what!

Jessica’s album was finished last year, and was originally slated to be released in November (before PP’s). They stated that they postponed release to coincide with her Glee appearances this coming spring, so she would have a fresh USA audience.
Could be good marketing, or could be waiting way to late. I wasn’t aware Glee had that big of an audience – certainly not a broad demographic one.

Idol Producers are so afraid of Jessica surpassing Phillip, so they out source her to the Philippines, because you know, AMERICA IS NOT BIG ENOUGH to hold two different style of music. So now they are having her compete again, with the new Idol winner for season 12. You gotta love that Jimmy!

I don’t think that Adam knows what types of venues to book for a tour. He sold out a tour of small venues for his first album, which I believe sold a lot more copies than Trespassing did. He hardly got any radio play for Tresspassing. He does not want to tour the US in small venues again. It is less expensive for him to have small events that are not a “tour.” I think he is going to tour with Queen as a way to accumlate new fans so he can book bigger venues for the tour for his third album. If he does tour with Queen, I think he will do a small set of his own music so he can build fans of his own. He has not achieved the album sales figures that someone of his caliber should have. Touring with Queen might get him to that point.

Jessica should have won AI, also Adam Lambert for season 8. Idol is now for girls finding cute guys. I witnessed how great Jessica Sanchez, she had a concert in Philippines this valentines day w Colton Dixon -her special guest. and i can say that Colton is way better than Phillips

I frankly am a bit perplexed on exactly what 19 Entertainment (and media) is doing with Jessica Sanchez. (in North America). It seems to remind me of the phenomena of job/contract outsourcing of American commodities to Asia. Here we have a 17 yr old MEGA talent from USA with 1M Twitter followers, 100 foot tall billboards, huge endorsement contracts, mass merchandising, selling out a coliseum on her first concert and virtually ZERO marketing in her home , the USA??. Unlike Phillips, they seem to have dished her out (then quickly buried) a bubble-gum pop song called Fairytale that would only appeal to 12yr olds in USA (no fault to Sanchez here). The ONLY explanation that I derive from certain incidents behind the scenes during AI-11 production is that they are ferociously terrified of her ( 8 months shy of legal adulthood) age and the consequences of providing her R&B material that will actually sell to urban American music youth.-aka all that material middle American parents frown upon. So they have turned to Asia culture where contrived “innocence” remains highly marketable and cocooned her from the American market until they feel more “comfortable” with the reality of urban American music and what consumers purchase. She would have been better signed with Def Jam or an urban American label that would be better suited to marketing the rare treasure that is the voice of Jessica Sanchez. But in closing- thank you Billboard.com for presenting Jessica where she belongs in America – as a prodigy of the great Whitney & may Jessica follow in her “vocal path”.

After seeing the Adam / Queen concerts and the Adam / Nile Rodgers/ Sam Sparro Shady performance it confirms what we have been saying all along. He is going to be a superstar. I think he is a good businessman and everything is falling into place. There must be a reason there will be no North American Trespassing tour. Radio did not accept it? I’m sure the third cd will take a new direction with “I hope” some amazing duets.
Maybe when Asia and Europe make him a star the U.S. and Canada will finally wake up!

Adam Lambert gave us fans many “Non Tour Tour” summer performances though out the USA. To which, Adam sang mostly music from his second album Trespassing and during several performances would introduce with a only Adam can do giggle while asking, ‘anyone want to hear an oldie?” and then proceed to sing WWFM or IIHY plus a cover. I was fortunate to have attended 15+ of these “Non Tour Tour” shows that were as great as any of the “Glam Nation” concerts I attended. While Adam didn’t give his 2012 performances a tour name he did give thousands of USA fans an opportunity to see him sing several of the Trespassing songs live to which I’m great full. Plus he gave traveling Glamberts and newly acquired local QueenBerts fans chills and thrills during another un-titled 6 European gig tour… Oh let’s not forget the 2012 ‘Radio Intimate Tour’ across America performed at a multitude of radio stations. Wink wink, maybe that tour should have been named the “Radio Experimental Intimate Tour” because he sang Trespassing singles in a variety of styles toe to toe with fans. Surly acknowledgement of these Adam USA Trespassing performances need not be lost even though they were without an official tour name. I appreciate that with or without a tour name Adam delivered his unique high energy give it all you got performance talents of his Trespassing album songs to his American fans… And like always left us wanting and wishing for MORE!
Matt looking back to 2012 how many places did Adam perform within the USA?

So true about Jessica and Adam not winning their seasons when they were the most talented and deserving of the win. In both cases as in the previous several seasons the winner was the white guy with guitar aka WGWG syndrome which American Idol is famous for. True talent doesn’t win – WGWG does!
Hopefully this season will produce someone different than that, maybe someone with talent for a change. Adam’s career has soared despite not winning his season. So I am happy with that. True talent pervails………………………

Jessica is way more talented than Phillip Phillips and should have won just like Adam Lambert. Love Haley and Casey.

I like to call Adam Lambert’s tour NOT IN THE USA. I even wrote a song about it that you can sing to the tune of BORN IN THE USA. I love Adam and I am proud of him. I want him to be a huge international star. But I do feel like the USA is being dissed. His GLAMILY here got TRESPASSING to debut at #1. His core group of fans can only buy so many copies. Adam needs to expand his fan base and go where the money is, which looks like it’s Asia and Eastern Europe.
I am still holding out hope that he will take his mini-tour to some cities in the US or waiting to hear news of a QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT tour this summer.

Adam also has a concert in Hong Kong on March 5. Plus the Belarus concert is March 15 rather than March 13. And yes, I too wish Adam was touring in the U.S. with Trespassing! It is such a good album!
