‘New Girl’ season 2 spoilers: ‘Breaking Bad,’ ‘The League’ stars book guest roles
As you may know already, “Justified” alum Margo Martindale is going to be appearing on an upcoming episode of “New Girl” as Nick’s mother; and now, we know that there are a few more additions coming up to the wacky Miller family in the form of his brother and his cousin.
Sources are confirming that Nick Kroll (“The League”) is going to be playing the part of Nick’s younger brother Jamie, whereas Bill Burr of “Breaking Bad” fame will play his cousin Bobby, who works as a TSA agent and has a very contentious relationship with Jamie. We don’t really know what Nick’s relationship with either one of these people is going to end up being, but this episode will be set largely in Chicago, which is of course Nick’s hometown.
After spending almost all of season 1 knowing very little about this backstory, Jake Johnson’s character is really starting to become more fleshed-out this year along with some of the others (including Jess). At this point, the person we really want to find out more about is Schmidt: we’ve already met his cousin (Rob Riggle), but who else has ultimately made this guy the overly-sensitive master of overcompensation that he is? Based on how much family has been injected into this season, we have a feeling that this will be a story more reserved for season 3, when that character will have an opportunity to be in the spotlight a little bit more than he would be now given the aftermath of the Nick / Jess kiss.
