‘Girls’ season 2, episode 6 preview: Back to reality
It has been fascinating seeing what the divided reaction is to last night’s episode of “Girls”: we found it to be pure brilliance and the best episode of any show thus far in 2013; meanwhile, some others feel like the singular focus and the dark nature of the story made it into the worst episode Lena Dunham and company has ever put out.
For those of you who did hate the episode, you will probably see next week’s “Boys” as a return to form. Patrick Wilson’s (Emmy-worthy) character of Joshua is out of the picture, and we are back to some of the problems of everyday life. Hannah has a task now to write an eBook, but the problem is that the editor needs it within a month. Meanwhile Marnie gets a rather unusual request to be a hostess, Jessa throws a fit in the midst of her post-Thomas-John depression, and Shoshanna tries to teach Ray about proper protocol.
As to why the episode is entitled “Boys,” get ready to see a returning Adam Driver spend plenty of time with Ray as the two embark on what is a rather bizarre trip to Staten Island. As for what will happen there, at the moment this is anyone’s guess … but one you remember that this is Adam that we are talking about, just about everything is fair game. It also still feels as though he is not completely over Hannah, which is interesting in itself considering that she got him arrested a little earlier this season.
