‘Game of Thrones’ season 3 teaser: The climb is all there is (video)
While there is still no official trailer out there for “Game of Thrones” season 3, HBO did the next-best thing on Sunday night: unveiling a brand-new teaser for the show that gives us plenty of reasons to be excited.
Narrated by Aidan Gillen (otherwise grossly known as Littlefinger), the video gives us what are basically brief images of all of the major characters while explaining some of the trials and tribulations that lie before them. It’s certainly something that is a little bit difficult to watch without the added benefit of a storyline surrounding it, but it almost is cool enough to not even really care.
From this standpoint, the highlight of the entire teaser is clearly the final shot, which is of Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) sporting that gnarly scar he received on his face courtesy of the Battle of Blackwater. The final line from Gillen, “the climb is all there is,” is almost in some ways a microcosm for the show as a whole. While you can talk about kingdoms and relationships, the show effectively boils down to a group of characters who are never happy in their current situation, and are therefore constantly striving for more. When it comes to many, it is a journey to make it to the throne; for the people already in power, it is a desire to acquire even more control. The nature of any climb is that there will inevitably be a fall at the end, and this is something that we should hold very close in our minds when preparing for this new season to air on March 31.
Overall, what do you think about this teaser? If you want to see a new, funnier video talking about the anticipation for the new season of “Game of Thrones,” you can do so over at the link here.
