‘The X Factor’ USA: Ne-Yo tells Ryan Seacrest about judging rumors at Grammys
Is Ne-Yo really about to be the next judge on “The X Factor” USA? While we do not have a firm answer to this question at the moment, the entertainer did admit on the red carpet for the 2013 Grammy Awards on Sunday night that things are starting to move in the direction that he could eventually end up as a replacement for the departing L.A. Reid.
Rumors of Ne-Yo possibly becoming a judge starting to float around a number of weeks ago, and logistically it does make sense. He is both a producer as well as a recording artist, and he also has a pretty extensive history on reality TV. He has been both a mentor on “The Voice” along with helping out on “American Idol” over the years.
So when will we actually know about the future of the panel? Knowing Simon Cowell, it will probably happen at the last minute. There is still more than a month for Cowell to make his final decisions on the matter, and this includes also figuring out whether or not co-hosting duo Khloe Kardashian and Mario Lopez will return. If Ne-Yo is hired, the only other job left will be trying to figure out someone to take the place of Britney Spears. More than anything else at the moment, all we hope is that the person they end up choosing is someone who is not only opinionated, but also thoroughly entertaining. (Think Nicki Minaj on “American Idol” this season, and not Jennifer Lopez a year ago.)
