‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 8, episode 16 preview: If Barney’s warning you…

When it comes to relationships, every single person has their own threshold for just how much crazy they are willing to take; and with this in mind, you know that things are very, very bad for you when Barney Stinson tells you that someone is too crazy for your own good.

This is the subject of the sneak peek below for Monday night’s new “How I Met Your Mother” season 8 episode, as Neil Patrick Harris’ character is doing everything he can to warn Ted that Jeanette (Abby Elliot) is completely and totally out of her mind. This warning comes after a list of hilariously and frightening things that women seemingly have done to Barney, and he was somehow okay with all of them.

Yet, for some ridiculous reason at the moment, Ted is still defending this woman using one simple argument: the relationship is “just fun,” and since he does not see it going anywhere, he sees no reason at all to just let it continue on for the time being. While he doesn’t say it, we wonder if any of this is code for “I’m absolutely terrified that if I do break up with her, she is going to do something absolutely horrible to me.” It’s very possible that this is indeed what happens, as narrator Ted is keen to inform us throughout the episode that Jeanette ends up becoming the last major mistake that he makes prior to meeting the future mother of his children.
