‘New Girl’ season 2 spoilers: Is Nick, Jess, or someone else rocked by tragedy?

If you are looking for reasons for Nick and Jess to be potentially drawn closer together on “New Girl” a little later on this season, there is one easy way that they could bond: over tragedy. It may sound like a creepy and rather-bizarre thing to say, but more often than not people often end up finding some common ground through the saddest and most unusual of circumstances.

According to a new report from E! News, we now know for certain that at least one character later on this season on the hit Fox comedy is going to be forced to deal with something that is rather terrible, and they will need help from the roommates to get through it. While for the sake of convenience this would be an easy way to progress the Nick / Jess relationship forward, there is no guarantee that we are talking about them. As a matter of fact, it seems to be incredibly unlikely that these two would be an item by the season’s end, mostly because there is no need to really rush the state of their relationship given that this show is practically a lock at this point to last until at least a season 4.

Even if there is no tragedy between these two just yet, we know that there will be some great stories coming up in the near future: we’re getting set to meet Nick’s mom for the first time, and Jess is going to have to deal with some jealousy when Nick gets a new love interest at the bar played by former “Breaking In” star (and Fox favorite) Odette Annable.
