‘American Idol’ season 12: MacKenzie Wasner out before Hollywood Week
The start of Hollywood Week is coming up Wednesday night on “American Idol,” but we have some news now about one artist that did not even make it this far on the show.
In a new post on her Facebook page (via Mjsbigblog), MacKenzie Wasner, who originally auditioned for the show this season in Chicago, revealed that even though she did receive a golden ticket, she was one of those few contestants this season who managed to disappear before the start of the next phase of the competition even began. This is hardly the first time that we have seen such a phenomenon happen to a talented singer, and there can be all sorts of reasons for it, whether it be for travel issues, personal reasons, or some circumstance that leads to disqualification. Wasner, who is the daughter of Vince GIll’s keyboardist Pete Wasner, did not really elaborate on just what happened to cause her to leave the competition early:
“Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond my control, I will not be competing in the finals in Hollywood. While I’m disappointed, nothing will stop me from continuing to pursue my dream of entertaining everyone through my music. I’ll update my Facebook page to let you know about my plans – and I hope I get to meet all of you and sing for you! I can’t wait to see who is the next American Idol!! :)”
Hollywood Week filmed back in the fall following the initial auditions, and the top 40 were selected to compete in the next phase of the competition from there. This month, the remaining contestants are being narrowed down to 20 (a move designed largely to combat spoilers getting out), and from there we will find out the 20 singers who will be competing for America’s vote in the live shows.
