NBC’s ‘The Voice’ season 4 promo: Shakira, Usher prepare themselves
At the moment, there is probably a feeling permeating around NBC that they would do absolutely anything to get “The Voice” back on the air. This is the network’s most-successful show at the moment by a long shot; the ratings are consistently strong with young people, and it also propped up their comedies “Go On” and “The New Normal” for almost the entire time that they were on the air.
Sadly for them, March 25 is still a solid month and a half away; but in order to make the wait a little bit more bearable, the network has at least released a new promo showing off some of the blind auditions in action. The major change for this season should be obvious from the get-go: Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green are not a part of the judging panel this time, and they have been replaced by a pair of other hugely-successful artists in Usher and Shakira who have decades of experience in this industry between them. (Plus, Usher’s got the name “Justin Bieber” on his resume anytime someone questions his credentials as a mentor.)
So are these two really going to be very entertaining? At the moment, this is really the only thing we are skeptical about when it comes to this new season. It is already very well-documented that Christina and Cee Lo’s antics brought lots of attention from the media, and you can be the biggest star in the world, but ultimately be rather boring on live TV. (Just ask Britney Spears on “The X Factor” last season.)
