NBC’s ‘Community’ season 4 spoilers: Watch the epic ‘Hunger Games’-inspired clip

There are not many TV shows that can pull of releasing a two-minute trailer that makes them look very much like a feature film; but luckily, “Community” is one of these such shows. Prior to the launch of the NBC comedy on Thursday night, the network has released such a thing that can best be described in one word: epic.

We don’t know if it is editing or just some very clever writing, but it is pretty hard to dispute at the moment that this is some of the funniest work that the comedy has put out yet. Almost every joke that is brought forward in here lands, especially the meta comments about Abed’s attempts to change in his fourth year (“escapades are a gray area”) along with some very strange Chang behavior. Three days before this show starts back, and we still have no idea just what is going on with Ken Jeong’s character.

This is going to be a make-it-or-break-it season for “Community” fans following the exit of Dan Harmon, and it desperately needs to get off to a great start this week. With some of NBC’s shows falling into the ratings abyss this past month (in particular comedies), there is a chance that it could stick around for another year even with just 1.5 ratings in the 18-49 demographic. We know from the past that the show is capable of drawing a 2.0, so let’s just hope it can get somewhere close to that number despite competition from “The Big Bang Theory” and “American Idol.”
