‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 8, episode 15 preview: Robin joins the dark side

When you are a teen idol, there is often a fall from grace that happens at some point afterwards. After all, there are some stories that must end at some point … and there has to be a reason why Robin Sparkles became strictly Robin Scherbatsky on “How I Met Your Mother,” and it was ultimately forgotten that at one point she was a rising star in Canada.

This phenomenon is going to be explored fully in the episode airing on Monday night entitled “P.S. I Love You,” which features stories geared really all around the end of the dream for Cobie Smulders’ character. In the video below, you can see a portion of what is a “Behind the Music” sort of special that features interviews with a number of notable Canadians (including Paul Shaffer!) talking about just what it was that may have caused the end of Sparkles’ career. Somehow, this has been left in the archives … until Barney managed to dig it up.

Is it fair for us to wonder why Barney continues to torture Robin with these, even after the two parties are engaged? Sure, but it is still pretty funny to watch the two of them continue to play off of each other and keep that sort of adversarial part of their relationship intact even though they are in love. Some of the other guests coming up Monday include James Van Der Beek, Alan Thicke, and even a Canadian trivia legend in Alex Trebek. Set your DVRs if you’re not watching live: this one should be fun.
