‘Arrow’ episode 12 preview: How does ‘Vertigo’ begin a new chapter?
Wednesday night’s episode of “Arrow” may not only be a game-changer for Oliver Queen, but also for us as loyal viewers of the series. After all, no villain this year has come with as much hype as Seth Gabel’s character of The Count (known in the Green Arrow comics by the name of Count Vertigo), and no character has delivered the sort of prestige needed to bring the show’s cast of evildoers to the next level.
Speaking in a new video from The CW below, executive producer Marc Guggenheim echoes these statements, and also explains how the arrival of the Count in many ways being a “new chapter” for villains on this show. So far, most of the people that Oliver has been chasing after as the Hood have been people on his father’s list, or some sort of big-name, white-collar criminals. Meanwhile, this is a man who operates with his own agenda and psychoses, and is somebody who is a gigantic, over-the-top personality who is not nearly so afraid to hide under a sea of bodyguards.
As for whether or not we are going to see the Count beyond this episode, that is currently being kept under wraps; considering that the character was originally set to appear in multiple episodes, though, you have to believe that there is a strong possibility of this happening (especially if Gabel ends up being well-received in the part). Thus far, our only fear is that it does not end up being too similar to the Joker, but we thus far don’t see that fully being the case since this man is not hiding under a mess of makeup or talking about how he got any scars.
