‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 8: Barney and Robin will [spoiler] before season 9
On the first episode of “How I Met Your Mother” in 2013, Barney and Robin announced that they officially had set the date for their big wedding in May of this year. So where does the problem come in here? We really just have to trace it back to the fact that the show has now been renewed for a ninth season, and it would make perfect sense for this to be the last episode of the show given that this same wedding is where we are going to finally learn who is the mother.
In a conference call with reporters this week, show co-creator Craig Thomas announced that despite the renewal (which is still waiting official confirmation from CBS), the wedding is still going to happen this season since there seems to be no reason to delay it any longer than they already have:
“We’ve been seeing glimpses of this wedding for, like, three years! We have to get there already.”
There is no word on how the mother reveal will happen now, given that it would make little sense for us to actually move past the date Ted met his future wife without having actually seen her in the flesh. For the time being, let’s focus on what we are going to see based on the information in this call:
1. The issue of Robin not being able to have children will be addressed.
2. Ted’s feelings for Robin will still (sigh) continue to play a role.
3. There could still be another chapter of Robin Sparkles next year if the right story comes along.
4. Remember the slap bet? Well, it’s not over.
Given that we are going to be seeing the wedding at the end of this season, why in the world do you think that we really need another year of the show now?
