‘The X Factor’ USA notes: Fifth Harmony’s milestone, Astro’s music video
For this edition of “The X Factor” USA notes, we are actually going to be heading back to the first season for a moment to talk about a young guy whose past antics on the show are sometimes sadly more remembered than his talent: Astro. He is still just a teenager, but the guy is a heck of a rapper and also a producer to boot.
The new music video below from Astro is called “He Fell Off,” and it is the first track from his upcoming mixtape to receive this sort of treatment. We dig the use of the saxophone here along with the rhymes, especially since the lyrics here really take on an issue that many singing-show contestants find themselves in following their time on TV: trying to find a way to stay relevant while also producing great music every step of the way.
We’re not so big on the choruses here, but just the versus alone show that if he can get the right people around him as he gets older and learn how to channel that chip on his shoulder into great music, Astro still has the potential to be a major force to be reckoned with in this industry.
In other news, we have a happy Fifth Harmony announcement to share: the group has been together for a full six months now! The ladies confirmed the news on Twitter over the weekend, and it is beyond amazing (to use one of the most over-used adjectives on the show this past year) to see just how far they have come since then. Now, they have a record deal with Syco and Epic Records, and they will be hitting the recording studio for the first time later this year.
