‘Game of Thrones’ season 3 spoilers: Unbearable scoop from George R.R. Martin
If you looked through the official “Game of Thrones” season 3 photos released by HBO earlier this week, then you have a good idea already what characters from the George R.R. Martin book A Storm of Swords are going to be turning up on the show for the first time. However, there was one addition to the cast who was left out of these images … and this one may be the most fearsome one of all.
Martin started a guessing game earlier this week with a post on his official Not a Blog teasing some sort of special guest star with a picture of a frog and the caption of “Son of Homer.” While the vast majority of folks understandably had little idea whatsoever as to what this was supposed to stand for, eventually it was figured out:
This special guest coming on board season 3 is actually a bear, and Martin proclaimed that it is an animal who just so happens to have one of the most-famous bloodlines in all of show business:
“You guys are smarter than the average bear, plainly.
Yes, it’s BART THE BEAR. Or rather, Bart the Second. The original Bart, that nine foot tall star of stage and screen, has departed for the great forest in the sky. So Jaime and Brienne get to play with his heir and namesake.”
You have to wonder just how much Gwendoline Christie and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau loved getting the opportunity to work with a bear for what is hopefully a very famous scene from the aforementioned novel; it has to be in some ways and absolutely terrifying experience; but at the same time, isn’t this something that is also very exciting to tell some of your friends about?
Are you very interested in watching this scene now? If you want to see more of these aforementioned photos, all you have to do is head on over to the link here.
