‘Once Upon a Time’ season 2 spoilers: More on Rumpelstiltskin’s search

While “Once Upon a Time” is going to bee off and on the air for many weeks over the next month thanks to the Super Bowl and the Oscars, there is a big episode coming up after “Tiny” in February that clearly to us suggests that a long-standing theory may be correct. However, be sure to stop reading now if you want to avoid spoilers.

The 14th episode of season 2 carries with it the title of “Manhattan,” and based on the official synopsis that has just been released per SpoilerTV, we have a feeling that the whole “Neal Cassady is Henry’s father” theory is about to be blown up to an even greater proportion:

“Henry, Emma and Mr. Gold search for Gold’s son in New York; Hook, Cora and Regina look for one of Rumplestiltskin’s most precious possessions.”

Remember, Neal clearly lives in New York City based on what we saw at the start of the season, and we also know that Michael Raymond-James is going to be appearing in pretty much the rest of the season following this episode. What other explanation could there really be? We suppose that it is possible that this is all some cruel misdirection and that Mr. Gold does not find Baelfire at all, and if that is the case we give the writers a gigantic pat on the back for pulling one of the greatest cons on us imaginable. For a while we thought that Ethan Embry’s character may have been a candidate, but considering that Cora’s tracking device sent him out of Storybrooke, that theory seems to be debunked (unless of course you think that Cora rigged the machine to begin with).

As for what Cora is looking for, our guess is that she wanted Rumple out of town so that she could find something that is a source of his power. It could be the infamous knife, some of his books, or another trinket that we have yet to really see or hear about.
