‘Army Wives’ season 7 spoilers: Brooke Shields signs on for recurring role
“Army Wives” has made quite a few changes for its upcoming seventh season (with Kim Delaney’s shocking exit being the primary one), but based on what we are hearing now, they are at least doing their best to bring in some interesting replacement roles.
Sources are confirming to us that actress Brooke Shields, who really needs very little introduction at all given her history, is going to be playing a fiercely intelligent and opinionated Air Force pilot who goes by the name of Katherine “Kat” Young. Shields will recur throughout the Lifetime drama’s seventh season, which is going to be very much an experiment on all fronts. The show has added three new series regulars to the cast in pop singer Ashanti, Torrey DeVitto (“The Vampire Diaries,” “Pretty Little Liars”) and Elle McLemore, and they are also cutting back on Sally Pressman and Sterling K. Brown this year.
As a whole, you could very well say that Lifetime is in a period of major transition. They recently canceled “Drop Dead Diva” to the surprise of many after four seasons on the air, and this move for “Army Wives” may be a last-ditch effort to keep the show running while still cutting down dramatically on cost. This new season is set to premiere on March 10, and its future will largely depend on whether or not the ratings stay at least reasonably steady from last year. We know already that Lifetime has a pretty rich development slate ahead of them, including a new show from executive producer Jennifer Love Hewitt (who of course stars on “The Client List”).
Lifetime of course has also had plenty of success when it comes to reality TV, as “Dance Moms” premiered early this year to some series-high numbers.
