‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 8 spoilers: Neil Patrick Harris talks final season
Now that we know that “How I Met Your Mother” season 8 is not going to be the last season of the show, we can start to enjoy it a little bit more … right? Now that the ambiguity is gone and the writers are not having to produce scripts that work in multiple timelines, it at least gives us some solace in knowing that we are not going to see a story drug out, only to end very suddenly in the final few weeks of the season.
While CBS has yet to confirm that the show has in fact been renewed, you can pretty much count these new comments from Neil Patrick Harris in an interview with MSN as gospel that there will be, in fact, one more year of stories to tell:
“I am. I’m very stoked that everyone agreed to a Season 9. We have been waiting, literally months and months and months to find out whether the whole thing was going to end this season or one more. It isn’t, thankfully, not going to go 10, 11 or 12 seasons because no one wants that, but with a Season 9, they have a really great idea for the entire season that is appropriate for waiting so long for answers. And conversely I’m happy we didn’t have to spend eight seasons dancing around a question and then have to answer it in three episodes.”
The original holdout for a ninth season was Jason Segel, who is actually one of the few actors who has remained very quiet about the renewal ever since it was first reported late last year. (Then again, this may not be related to just the show, given that he has not been on his Twitter account in about nine months.) We wish we could sit here and try to describe just what is going to happen on the show next season, but we still have many more episodes for season 8 to get through.
