‘Downton Abbey’ season 4 spoilers: Is there really a Coldplay connection to cast?

There is surely going to be some exciting casting news on the horizon for “Downton Abbey” season 4; but when it happens, surely it will not sound as far-fetched or as crazy as the rumor that we are about to present.

If you are to believe a new report from Star Magazine, then you may actually believe that Gwyneth Paltrow could be joining the show for a role … even though there is pretty much no evidence out there of it happening ta all. Specifically, a source told the publication that she was joining the show because she is tired of doing blockbusters like the “Iron Man” franchise, she enjoyed her arc as Holly Holliday on “Glee,” and she was interested in doing something in Britain given that is where she and her husband Chris Martin of Coldplay call home.

However, there are so many holes in this story that even Swiss cheese served by Mrs. Patmore could not compare. First things first, who gets tired of the massive paychecks that come with doing blockbuster films, or the opportunities that brings you do other work? You also have to remember that even though Shirley MacLaine was a part of “Downton Abbey” season 3, this is not a show that is particularly interested in stunt casting. With its ratings being so high both in Britain as well as America, it simply does not need it.

“Downton Abbey” season 4 is only casting one role at the moment that has been revealed in the press: a possible new love interest for Lady Mary, who could even stick around until season 5 if the show is renewed again.

Update: A rep for Paltrow has also denied this story to Gossip Cop, as if you needed further verification that this was bogus.
