‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 8, episode 14 preview: More on Ashley Benson

As we’ve been talking about for weeks now, Ashley is Benson is coming on board Monday night’s new “How I Met Your Mother” season 8 episode in the role of Carly, and she is going to be someone who drives Ted absolutely crazy in both good and bad ways. Why? Let’s just say that she seems like one of those people who frequents the clubs mentioned by Stefon on “Saturday Night Live.”

Based on the latest sneak peek from the episode from “Entertainment Tonight,” we get a chance to see a little bit more as to who Carly is. She’s young, hip, and into all sorts of strange things including experimental food and visiting clubs that are apparently located under manhole covers. She also dressed like a combination of someone at a ski resort and Tifa from “Final Fantasy 7.”

Just in case all of this alone was not a warning sign that things are not exactly going to work out between Carly and Ted, you should also know this: there is still another shocker coming that we’ve talked about extensively already, and that is a connection to Barney that he is unaware of. While we won’t give this completely away for those of you who want to be relatively unspoiled going into the episode, know this: Carly’s appearance is going to help cancel out one possibility for the massive “who is the mother?” mystery. Also, don’t expect Benson to stick around for very long considering that she has another gig over on ABC Family with “Pretty Little Liars.”
