‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 8, episode 14 preview: Ashley Benson arrives

Remember when Ted was just a young guy maturing in New York City? Well, he’s now at the point in his life where he is really ready to get married and have children … but he is sure looking for his partner in all of the wrong places.

In the first promo for Monday night’s “How I Met Your Mother” season 8 episode, Ted is seemingly enjoying himself with a young woman (“Pretty Little Liars” star Ashley Benson) who apparently thinks that he is a dinosaur. As a matter of fact, she also suspects that he fought in the Vietnam War. It’s certainly understandable that he may be desperate to be with someone after finding out that Barney and Robin were going to get married … but out of all of the people he could have chosen to be with, we’re rather surprised to learn that this is who he picked.

There is more to this episode that what we are seeing here; Ted is going to spend this episode debating as to whether or not he should break up with her, only for Barney to convince him to continue on with it for the time being. Then, the two make a discovery about her that is rather surprising, to say the least. Not only that, but it is another person who is not the mother of his future kids.

This is probably going to be the last woman that Ted is with before Abby Elliot turns up a little later in the season in her pivotal role as a girl who Ted is attracted to, even though everything within him says that it is a terrible idea to do so.
