‘Breaking Bad’: Betsy Brandt lands post-season 5 gig on Michael J. Fox comedy
Betsy Brandt officially does not have to worry about being out of a job, even after “Breaking Bad” wraps up its five-season run on AMC this summer. As a matter of fact, she will be taking off in little to no time at all to NBC to work with one of the most-popular TV stars in the business.
Multiple sources have confirmed that Brandt, who you may refer to as “Marie” on a regular basis, is set to play the role of Annie, the wife to Michael J. Fox’s character on the still-untitled comedy show that is loosely based on his life. She will be someone who is very loyal and protective of her man, and often becomes irked by the insensitivity of others. Fox’s character is going to be (like the actor) returning to work after spending some time battling Parkinson’s disease, and we anticipate it being a positive show that also brings plenty of laughs to the table despite what has been at times for the actor a very painful and tiring experience.
So how will Brandt do in the part? That is a part of the discussion that is still very much up in the air. This marks one of her first major gigs in the comedy genre, as she was relegated to doing mostly work in dramas long before arriving alongside Bryan Cranston on AMC. We would be a little more concerned if she was in a situation where there was no comedy legend of Fox’s stature. With her talent and his presence, she should do just fine.
